Rec Center Experiences Signs of Growth

August 13 , 2008 — Only a couple of months of construction remain to complete work on the Recreation Center in the fall of 2008.  Backstops, outfield fencing, infield, and warning track brick dust are installed for the new softball fields in the 23-acre expansion area. Some of the concrete walkways in the softball area have also been constructed. Other new improvements are moving ahead full steam including the new roads and parking lots that have just been paved. The fields and lawns in the front 55 acres of the park have received new hydro seeding and area already showing signs of good growth. They should be ready for regular maintenance and use in just a few months.

The new restroom/concession building in the softball area is nearing completion with much of the exterior trim work and decorative elements complete. Work on the inside is nearing completion and being readied to accept the new kitchen appliances.

New score boards for the softball fields will be installed in the near future, and park benches will begin to be placed in the next couple weeks.

The remainder of the park will see the planting of ground cover as well as some additional trees, many of which will be flowering such as jacarandas.
