September 30, 2008 The dream of the expanded Recreation Center has become a reality. Grass is growing on all fields. The contractor is working on some of the final touches of the project. These include final roofing, windows, and concession equipment for the two new restroom/concession buildings, finishing plantings of tree and shrubs, repairing damaged concrete work, adjusting irrigation, electrical, lighting, and other new systems and preparing for the final asphalt paving cap on the central park road and all parking lots. The decomposed granite (DG) perimeter walking trail is being repaired and re-compacted in addition to extension of the path from the end of the Recreation Center project along the service road all the way to the County portion of the park.

Contract work will be done at the end of this month. Fields will remain closed until February as there are no programs scheduled until that time and the additional time will allow the turf to get stronger before the programs begin in late winter/early spring.

Once complete, the painting of the Recreation Center building will begin its process to “fit” that building into the scheme of the new and improved Recreation Center and Sports Park.
