COMMITTEE/COMMISSION/BOARD APPLICATIONS

The City of Fountain Valley is requesting applications from volunteers to sit on the commissions, committees or boards listed below. Applications are available online or at the City Clerk’s office located at 10200 Slater Avenue, Fountain Valley.  The application deadline is December 17, 2009 at 5:00 P.M.  The City Clerk’s Office can be reached at (714) 593-4445.  Applicants should be registered voters of the City of Fountain Valley.

PLANNING COMMISSION

The Planning Commission acts in accordance with the ordinances of the City and State laws. It makes recommendations to the Council regarding amendment or repeal of a Master Plan, development within the City, subdivision of land, blighted and substandard areas of the City, zoning and land use, etc. The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers.

HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD

The Committee reviews the City’s ongoing Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) makes recommendations for future activities to be undertaken by the City. The Community Development Block Grant Program regulations (HUD) require that the City “shall provide citizens with an adequate opportunity to participate in an advisory role in planning, implementing, and assessing the programs.” The Board meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE DISABLED

The Committee’s primary function and responsibilities are to facilitate the development of barrier-free buildings and facilities within the City, assist the various departments in the implementation of specific guidelines for accessible facilities, facilitate the development of recreational programs useable by the disability, provide information concerning special recreation equipment, work with various levels of education on the development and implementation programs to assure maximum integration for disabled students in such programs and to develop community awareness of the employment potentials of the disabled population. The Committee meets on the 1st Thursday of every other month at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall in Conference Room No. 1

The City Clerk's Office has a wide range of responsibilities and duties that are provided on a daily basis.  Along with maintaining and preserving accurate actions of the City Council and Fountain Valley Agency for Community Development, the City Clerk is also charged with:

The City Clerk’s Office seeks to stay current on the numerous and often changing, complex matters that relate to the above responsibilities. Resources available include the California Government Code, Election Code, Code of Civil Procedures, and Municipal Code. Other resources available can be found through various professional associations such as the League of California Cities, International Institute of Municipal Clerks, City Clerk’s Association of California, the National Notary Association, and the Association for Records Managers and Administrators.
