Kitchen Safety Tips
Never leave cooking unattended and always turn off appliances (coffee pots, toaster ovens).

Keep flammable objects (clothing, pot holders, dish towels) away from cooking surfaces.

Do not overload electrical circuits and replace appliances with frayed cords.

Keep pot handles turned inward and out of the reach of children.

If you have a grease fire, do not apply water. Smother the fire with a lid and turn off the heat.

Drowning Prevention
Never leave children unattended while swimming.

Pools should have a non-climbable fence at least 5 feet tall.

Install alarms on all doors leading to pool.

Children as well as adults should learn to swim.

Adults, caretakers, as well as children should learn CPR, first-aid, and rescue techniques.

Home Fire Safety Tips
Install smoke detectors on each level of your home, in each bedroom and the adjoining hallways. Maintain smoke detectors by testing them each month and replacing the batteries at least twice a year.

Conduct home fire alarm drills with your family at least twice a year. Make sure everyone has a meeting place and at least two exits from each room.

Have your heater checked by a professional prior to each winter.

Keep space heaters away from combustible materials (drapes, furniture, bedding, etc.)

Avoid use of extension cords in place of permanent wiring.

Have any possible electrical hazards inspected by a professional electrician.
