CITY HALL HOURS
Faced with significant challenges of declining revenues, increases in demand for services, increases in costs, and an overall need to do more with less, the City of Fountain Valley is streamlining its City Hall hours to provide an increase in service to the public while reducing operational costs. Emergency services continue to be available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, by calling 9-1-1. See below for additional after-hours services information.
City Hall business hours are:
7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday
Alternating Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed every other Friday & Holidays
In addition to these closures, beginning October 2, 2009, City Hall will be furloughing one Friday a month to take an additional step to meeting our budget crunch caused by the downturn in the economy. Please be sure to check the Community Calendar for furlough Fridays.
- Police Department: The Police Department normal business hours are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (714) 593-4485.
- Senior Center: The Senior Center normal business hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (714) 593-4446.
- Recreation Center: The Recreation Center is open Monday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. then 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday closed. (714) 839-8611.
- City Yard: Beginning June 29, 2009, the City Yard is open 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. (714) 593-4600.
The City makes every effort to maintain critical Services when City Hall is closed. If you are need of a Service and City Hall is closed, please see below.
- Water Payments: Water payments are accepted during City Hall’s normal business hours. Payments may also be placed in the secure water payment depository box at the front entrance to City Hall. An autopay option for water and trash payments is available by visiting by completing the Auto Pay Form. (714) 593-4420.
- Water On/Off: Requests for water turn on/off may be made during City Hall’s normal business hours at the regular rate. Requests may also be made on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the after-hour rate. Residents who request their water to be turned on/off on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday will first be required to pay all fees in full at the Police Department before the special request can be accommodated. - Building Inspections: Can be scheduled Monday through Friday including the alternate Friday that City Hall is closed. Persons wishing to request a building inspection can leave a message at (714) 593-4429. When the Building Division is able to accommodate the request, they will contact you about the inspection.
- Building Permits: Requests for building permits are only available during City Hall’s normal business hours. (714) 593-4429.
- Business License: Request for a business license are available during City Hall’s normal business hours. (714) 593-4421.
- Code Enforcement: Code Enforcement staff is only available for contact during City Hall’s normal business hours. (714) 593-4444.
- Refuse collection: Continues as normally scheduled. Inquiries can be directed to Rainbow Disposal at (714) 847-3581.
- Library: The Fountain Valley branch of the Orange County Library continues as normally scheduled. For Library hours, please call (714) 962-1324.
