Clean water is an important resource to everyone. To help protect this resource, the City of Fountain Valley is taking another step forward in preventing water pollution.
With any substantial amount of rain, the trash inside catch basins is flushed through the storm drain system and out to the ocean and beaches. Imagine the cumulative impact of thousands of catch basins countywide dumping trash to the ocean and beaches.
Using $99,645 in OCTA grant money, the City is installing 63 specialized filters inside storm drain catch basins that receive large amounts of trash. The Public Works Department will remove and dispose of the collected trash on a regular basis.
