General Plan Update
Did you know the City is updating its General Plan?
The Fountain Valley General Plan is the primary long-range policy and planning document guiding the city’s physical development, conservation, and improvement. Every city in California is required by state law to adopt a general plan containing goals and
policies that expresses the community’s vision of its future, improves public safety, and enhances access to and the use of available resources.
The City’s General Plan was last comprehensively updated in 1995. For more information review the project Revised Fact Sheet, Public Involvement Plan, and Schedule.
The City is preparing an environmental impact report (EIR) to evaluate the potential impacts of the General Plan update. A Notice of Preparation has been prepared and can be downloaded by clicking here.
AUGUST 2021 VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS:
In August, the City hosted a series of workshops for residents and stakeholders to learn more about and help shape how Fountain Valley will grow and change over the next 20+ years.
This workshop focused on the desired design quality of new/renovated buildings, the integration of new development into the design fabric of the community , the enhancement and maintenance of our existing neighborhoods, creating distinct and usable gathering places, and well-designed and landscaped public rights-of-way.
Please get involved and stay informed!
Throughout the General Plan update there will be multiple opportunities for the community to participate in the process. To receive notifications of those opportunities and other project information please subscribe to email updates and follow us at:
