Youth in Government Day on June 5

On June 5, the City of Fountain Valley will open its doors to the Fountain Valley School District. Third grade students from 5 campuses will have the opportunity to engage directly with all facets of the City including elected officials, Public Works, Fire, Police and the rest of the City Team.

General Plan Update

Fountain Valley is updating its General Plan, which guides the long-term growth and development of the community. The citizen's committee leading this effort, the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC), conducted their second meeting on May, 13 at MemorialCare Health and Wellness Pavilion.

Fountain Valley Fire Chief retires after 29 years with department.

Fountain Valley Fire Chief Tony Coppolino began his firefighting career with Fountain Valley, and come June 28, will end his firefighting career with Fountain Valley. Chief Coppolino, 52, began with the department in 1988 as a Fire Administration Intern. In July of 1990, Coppolino was hired as a firefighter, promoting to a firefighter/paramedic in 1995. In addition to working his way up the ranks within the department, Tony also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University. Within seven years of becoming a Captain, Coppolino promoted to Battalion Chief in 2011. With a strong work ethic, enthusiastic attitude and a strong passion to make FVFD the best department in the county, Tony set his sights on the Fire Chief position. In 2013, his hard work and dedication paid off and he was promoted to Fire Chief.
