Please join the Public Works Department along with Recreation and Community Services Department as we celebrate the re-opening of Harper Park on Friday, November 2, 2018. There will also be Movies in the Park featuring “Coco”. Here are the highlights of the celebration activities:

  • Ribbon Cutting at 5:15pm
  • Movie in the Park starting at 5:45pm (Disney’s Coco)
  • Hotdogs, snow cones, and popcorn for those in attendance
  • Games and prizes (donated by community sponsors)
  • Costume Contest!

The Harper Park Improvement Project, 8675 Bluebird Avenue, began on July 16, 2018. Due to its poor conditions and age, both playground structures at Harper Park were due for replacement. The project consisted of replacing both playground structures with new and improved equipment that meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The park playground upgrades include not only the procurement and installation of new ADA compliant play equipment but also the placement of pour-in-place rubberized safety surfacing in fall zones and entry points. The rubberized surfacing maintains ADA compliance and provides for required fall zone protection. The new play equipment blends a variety of fitness themed play activities aimed at improving youth fitness! Some of the new amenities include a “Mommy and Me” swing that provides an opportunity for parents or siblings to swing in tandem with toddlers. The park also includes a unique feature called “Biba Playground.” There are multiple apps you can download and utilize to play fun-interactive games while at your local park. On October 5, 2018, the project was completed and opened to the public.
