The holiday season is in full swing and the Fountain Valley Fire Department will once again be supporting the Spark of Love Toy Drive. Over the past two and a half decades, the Spark of Love Toy Drive has successfully collected more than nine million toys.
The Spark of Love campaign began in 1993 as a partnership between ABC7 and firefighters throughout the five-county areas of Orange, Riverside, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Ventura. Although there are other worthwhile toy drives, Spark of Love is the only one created and operated by firefighters. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the campaign which runs from November 11 through December 24. In addition to Fountain Valley City Hall, all Orange County fire stations, including Fountain Valley Fire Station 1 and Fire Station 2, will serve as drop-off sites for new, unwrapped toys or sports equipment. Gift cards will also be accepted and can be directed to the attention of Fire Marshal Michelle Rudaitis.
This holiday season, the Fountain Valley Fire Department has partnered with the Fountain Valley Community Foundation to distribute toys to nonprofit and community organizations in Fountain Valley. Monetary donations to support toy drive efforts can be made to the Foundation; please specify the funds are to support Spark of Love.
If you are a nonprofit or community organization, please complete the toy request form, available here, and send the completed form to rob.frizelle@fountainvalley.org or visit the Community Foundation website.
