The Fountain Valley Sports Park has been an icon for the City for many years. As a centerpiece of sports and recreation, the Sports Park and Recreation Center have hosted many visitors over the years. There are multiple sports facilities in the park, including baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts, that are accompanied by restrooms and snack bars run by various volunteer groups such as AYSO, Fountain Valley Little League, Pony League, and many others.

During a large park improvement project in 2008, the four outbuildings in the center of the park were freshened, but at the time, they were not in need of repairs. As the years have passed, the buildings have become weathered and worn, especially the roof structures.

On December 15, 2020, City Council authorized the replacement of the existing wood roof structures on the four buildings metal seam roofs to match the other buildings in the park. The new metal roofs are very durable and will stand for many years to come, keeping Fountain Valley “A Nice Place to Live.”

In addition to the roofing project, the Public Works Building Maintenance crew conducted internal upgrades. Immediately after the roof of each building was finished, the maintenance crew went through the interior of the restrooms replacing old fixtures and repainting the walls. The interior and exterior lighting of the four buildings were also replaced with energy efficient LED lighting.

All four buildings have been completed as of July 1st and are ready to welcome the public back!
