
Fountain Valley City Council approved the Outdoor Dining Pilot Program at the August 17, 2021 City Council Meeting and is accepting proposals by Friday, September 17, 2021.
The City of Fountain Valley has created the Outdoor Dining Pilot Program, which will provide funding to commercial property owner(s) for outdoor dining support program who have suffered negative impacts due to COVID-19 located in the First District. The City is seeking property owner(s) to submit proposal to design/construct outdoor dining setup with a minimum of three adjacent retail pads. The desire is to create an attractive and efficient combined dining experience. The program is based on the availability of funds and property owner(s) may receive up to $200,000 in grant by November 30, 2021. The funds are to be predominantly targeted for hard construction costs such as concrete, railings, bollards, and/or planters. The proposed project must be completed by December 31, 2022 or the awarded grant funds must be returned to the City.
Funding Availability
The City of Fountain Valley received an allocation of $200,000 from First District Supervisor Andrew Do of the CARES Act in June 2021. The funds will be disbursed as a grant to property owner(s) within the County of Orange District 1 area only (Warner Avenue north to the City limits). As a disbursing agent for these funds, the City’s Administration Department shall be responsible for providing the administrative services for the Outdoor Dining Pilot Program. The City is obligated to fulfill the terms and conditions of the funds as established by the CARES Act, District 1 County Supervisor Andrew Do and City Council, these program guidelines, and Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the Outdoor Dining Pilot Program, property owner(s) must meet these criteria.
- Located within Fountain Valley District 1 – North of Warner Avenue to city limits.
- Active Fountain Valley business license and also have been in business prior to March 2020.
- No active code enforcement violations.
- Minimum three adjacent retail pads for outdoor dining proposal.
- Outdoor dining project(s) to be completed by December 31, 2022 or the awarded grant funds must be returned to the City.
Application
Property owner(s) who are interested in the Outdoor Dining Pilot Program will submit proposal(s) to Deputy City Manager Maggie Le at maggie.le@fountainvalley.org for consideration before 4 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021. The property to be improved must be located in First District (Warner Avenue north to the city limits).
