Fountain Valley was incorporated on June 13, 1957 and six decades later, the community is still going strong. The Community Champions along with two City Councilmembers, through the 60 Year Anniversary Committee, came together in the past few months to plan and successfully coordinated the 60 Year Anniversary Celebration.
The celebration included a fireworks show on June 23 and a community parade on June 24. The two events raised approximately $30,000 in sponsorship and had close to 1,800 people participated in the parade. Participants included elected officials, service clubs, local schools, youth organizations, businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations and many more. Retired sports and news anchor, Ed Arnold, was the Grand Marshal of the parade. The community also enjoyed a dragon dance from Bushard Avenue on Heil Avenue into Fountain Valley Sports Park.
