[ARCHIVED] PURSUIT ARREST

On
July 29, 2017, at 6:04 p.m., Officers responded to a suspicious subject call inthe 17300 block of Mt. Cliffwood.  The subject was seen exiting a vehicle,
changing clothes, then returning to the vehicle.  The reporting partyindicated the subject was possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The
subject drove off and was located by Officers in the area of Newhope andSlater.  As Officers attempted to initiate a car stop for an
investigation, the subject failed to yield. A pursuit was initiated and CHPassumed the pursuit on the southbound 405 freeway. CHP deployed spike strips
disabling three of the vehicle’s tires, and the pursuit ended when CHPconducted a PIT maneuver disabling the vehicle on the southbound 5 freeway near
the San Onofre nuclear power plant.

Thesubject was uncooperative and reached under his seat several times. All four of
the windows were rolled up so a Fountain Valley Police Officer shot out theback window with Less Lethal rounds to gain a better view of the subject. 
After communication was established, the subject exited and was taken intocustody without incident.

There
were no injuries, no traffic collisions, and no use of force.  The subjectwas determined to be under the influence of drugs and was arrested for DUI,
felony evading, possession of methamphetamine, and a methamphetaminepipe.  The subject, Anthony Williams, 32 years old from Anaheim, was
booked at OCJ and a PRCS hold was obtained.  When asked why he fled,Williams replied he was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
